I’m walking, rather well. Not yet exactly like I was before my Nov. 16, 2017 fall, but today, not quite five months later, I walk unassisted and on my own. I’m tending to my life, driving and getting in physical therapy appointments twice a week. I’m also packed and ready to take that month long trip. (April 5, 2018)

The military ceremony at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida, where my Dad, Hermes J. Petterson, Sr., was buried today. (March 5, 2018)

Today we said good-bye to our father and grandfather, Hermes Juan Petterson Sr. He took his last breath at 1:10 p.m. Dad fought a valiant fight in ICU for more than a week but in the end, between the kidney failure and pneumonia, his frail body could not hold on any longer. These hands on Dad’s hand let him know his family was with him to the end. (Feb. 27, 2018)
