Ciao Sicily, Italy and Malta! Here I come!

After a lengthy and relaxing layover at home in Dallas, my carry on bags are packed and I’m ready for my next travel adventure…Italy.

On Friday, I leave to spend two months in a country rich in art, history, culture and good food…beginning with Palermo, Sicily, the island off the “toe” of Italy’s “boot,” on a Rick Steves “Best of Sicily” tour for 11 days. I’ll meet up with my former Turkey and Greece tour mate Alice and this time, her husband John will also be joining the tour. After two weeks in Sicily, we’re renting a two-bedroom apartment in Venice for five days. After that, John heads back home to Washington state while Alice and I join another Rick Steves tour, “Village Italy,” for 14 days which begins in Padua and ends in Lake Orta. From there, Alice and I say our good-byes and I head to Milan, Sorrento and Rome on my own for almost three weeks before my good friend Bonnie joins me in Rome. Bonnie and I will hang out in Rome for a few days before heading to Malta for a week, Florence for a day, back to Rome and then home to Dallas on June 14. All that in a little more than two months.

My Lipault 20-inch spinner…packed and ready for national and international flights. And my Pacsafe Venturesafe 15L backpack contains my cameras, iPad and meds. The travel books are great for research but when I travel, I use the digital versions available on my iPad and iPhone.
